A place for families to

feel supported

Joey’s House was founded in 2020 by Karyn Sathy (parent), Britelle Smith (special education teacher), and Benjamin Delgado (developmental therapist, chief of the Bureau of Early Intervention).  They recognized a need for quality programming for adolescents and adults with special needs who required significant levels of support.  The founders were dedicated to making a difference in that community.

The Joey’s House team knows the heart of the mission is a team of qualified, committed volunteers.  They could never have anticipated how many others recognized the need for this programming and how many others would graciously give their time and hearts to make this Joey’s House dream a reality.  Within the first six months alone, Joey’s House had 63 volunteers who had contributed over 3,500 hours of volunteering, and that volunteer team has continued to grow.

"The staff was so bubbly and excited every day, which made him excited. Camp was so organized and so well thought -out. Please tell everyone who was involved that they are the most important people in the world. There is so much meanness, selfishness and complete nonsense in our world and I feel like special-needs people are often totally forgotten about. Cannot tell you how much your efforts are appreciated."
